In honor of Day Without Hate Friday April 29, EMS leadership is sponsoring activities all week to celebrate all the ways students and teachers work to create a place where everyone feels safe, accepted and empowered to be their best, as well as actives to create awareness and understanding of all the diversity around us. Day Without Hate is a national event started at Columbine HS after the tragic shootings April 20, 1999. Below is the schedule for the week:

Friday April 22: Earth Day: Theme: “Think Globally, Act Locally” Echo Food drive kick off- Awareness of local homelessness Leadership Council will be collecting donations for ECHO (headed by two seventh grade students - Isabelle Matthews and Logan Pelligrino) AND the Mountain Backpack program. We will promote this event as an Earth Day "Think Globally, Act Locally" event that is intended to inspire EMS to support our community and our Earth in a way that helps us value and share our many resources. This food drive will then take place the entire Day Without Hate week, with pick-ups and deliveries made on the 29th!! Environmental awareness - let’s recycle more and make our school shine!

Monday April 25: Theme: Integrity
7:30 am Sidewalk chalk murals before school - everyone welcome
All kids will receive Challenge Cards in school with a variety of team building and charitable activities the kids can perform throughout the week to receive prizes.

Tuesday April 26: Theme: Commitment to Mental and Physical Health Yoga offered on stage and/or outside during lunch

Wednesday April 27: Theme: Awareness/ALLY Day
Echo Fundraiser Promotion- pantry is low, let’s bring in food for our community Mindfulness activities “I am a Ram because…” photo shoot
Thursday April 28: Theme: Respect
Mix it Up Lunch: kids will be encouraged buy not required to sit with someone new at lunch

Friday April 29 - Day Without Hate: Theme: Empathy Chalk Mural make up if rain Monday, and touch up if not
Challenge cards due, names drawn of those that complete for prizes
All School Assembly: “Celebrate Diversity”
Interactive Dance with Ghana Performers
After School Dance: 2:50-4

SCHOOL ACCOUNTABILITY COMMITTEE: The EMS Accountability Committee involves administration, teachers, parents, and community members working together to establish and implement goals to make our school even better! Meetings are held monthly on Monday afternoons.
